Inês Vilarinho is a researcher at the Department of Materials and Ceramic Engineering of the University of Aveiro and CICECO – Aveiro Institute of Materials. She holds a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon and a PhD in Refining, Petrochemical and Chemical Engineering from the University of Coimbra, completed in collaboration with the chemical industry. Her background combines process engineering, materials science and applied research.
Her research focuses on renewable materials, sustainability and the circular economy, with particular emphasis on the valorisation of waste and secondary raw materials for the development of more sustainable ceramic materials. She has contributed to national and international R&D projects and to research aimed at decarbonising ceramic manufacturing, including the use of waste streams such as eggshells and bivalve shells as alternative raw materials.
