The event on 28 and 29 September will bring together professionals from 15 countries
Registration is now open for the inaugural edition of IGNITE – International Congress on Ceramics Innovation, which will take place on 28 and 29 September 2026 in Castellón, Spain. Organised by the Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Services and Navigation of Castellón, IGNITE has been conceived as the international technical platform with the greatest global ambition for the ceramics industry.
The congress will bring together professionals, researchers, architects and industry leaders from more than fifteen countries to address the major transformations shaping the future of the sector. Its academic and technical programme is supported by leading institutions, including the Spanish Society of Ceramics and Glass and the University of Aveiro, ensuring a rigorous selection of content focused on addressing the operational challenges facing manufacturing plants, as well as today's complex macroeconomic environment.
Structured around five strategic themes, IGNITE has also unveiled a preview of its inaugural programme, featuring keynote presentations and panel discussions that will address the industry's most pressing challenges and opportunities.
Within the field of the energy transition, presentations will examine advanced solutions such as the use of hydrogen in industrial burners, microwave-assisted firing, cold sintering, biomass integration, and the impact of Spain's Energy Savings Certificates scheme on industrial competitiveness.
Industrial digitalisation will feature prominently through sessions exploring compliance with the European Union Artificial Intelligence Act, the development of energy digital twins using OT–Edge architectures, the implementation of industrial cybersecurity measures in accordance with the IEC 62443 standard, and the adoption of the Digital Product Passport through inkjet printing technologies.
From the perspective of design and architecture, the programme will showcase ceramics as high-performance technological solutions, highlighting applications in functional façades, additive manufacturing and three-dimensional printing, as well as automated acoustic resonance systems for quality control.
The agenda will also address environmental and regulatory priorities through presentations on the valorisation of grinding dust in sustainable binders, the assessment of respirable crystalline silica in the workplace, and the integration of Life Cycle Assessment with Building Information Modelling methodologies. In addition, the programme will examine the global economic landscape and the implications of leading international reports on the future of European industrial competitiveness, while also highlighting the strategic importance of higher technical education as a key driver of innovation across the ceramics sector.
