Castellón, 27 May 2026. The Castellón Chamber of Commerce has made further progress in expanding its international presence and visibility IGNITE, the International Congress on Ceramics Innovation, following the formalisation of a significant cooperation agreement with the University of Aveiro.This agreement, signed by the president of the Chamber of Commerce, Mª Dolores Guillamón, strengthens the strategic positioning of the event to be held in Castellón on 28 and 29 September.
The accord with the University of Aveiro, represented by its vice-rector João Veloso, establishes the congress as the focal point for knowledge exchange between the leading ceramic clusters of the Iberian Peninsula. The renowned Portuguese institution joins as a partner entity with the aim of fostering innovation, research, and technology transfer to industry.
Scientific excellence and sustainability
Under this cooperation agreement, the University of Aveiro will actively help define the congress themes, contributing expertise in decarbonisation, industrial sustainability, and the circular economy.
A united front to drive the transformation of the sector
Mª Dolores Guillamón emphasised the importance of this cooperation, which highlights the "mutual trust" and "full alignment" between Castellón and Portugal in addressing the global challenges of the sector.

With this new addition, IGNITE reinforces its international panel, incorporating the expertise of the Portuguese university alongside the already confirmed support of the Spanish Society of Ceramics and Glass, the Generalitat Valenciana, the Castellón Provincial Council, the City Councils of Castellón, Vila-real and l’Alcora, PortCastelló, and leading firms including Porcelanosa, Errece, Iberdrola, and Banco Sabadell.
