The event further strengthens its strategic significance ahead of its inaugural edition, to be held on 28 and 29 September, where key challenges such as decarbonisation and industrial geopolitics will be addressed.
Castellón, 20 April 2026. The Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Services, and Navigation of Castellón, as organiser entity IGNITE, International Congress on Ceramics Innovation, has formalised the incorporation of the L'Alcora town council as an institutional sponsor for its inaugural edition. This major professional gathering will be held on September 28 - 29, establishing itself as the leading platform for technological and strategic exchange within the ceramic tile industry cluster.
L’Alcora’s inclusion in this project strengthens the institutional weight of the event, as the municipality is internationally recognised as the cradle of ceramics. The President of the Castellón Chamber of Commerce, Mª Dolores Guillamón, has emphasised that this alliance not only represents support for the congress, but also “highlights the municipality’s key role in the industrial identity of the province.”
Likewise, Guillamón has pointed out that having the support of the L’Alcora Town Council is essential, as it “demonstrates that our region’s ceramic tradition and technological innovation go hand in hand to lead the sector’s transformation.”
For his part, the Mayor of L’Alcora, Samuel Falomir, stated that “the L’Alcora Town Council could not be absent from an initiative such as IGNITE, which is born with a vocation for leadership and for addressing the major challenges of the ceramic sector. For us, it is essential to be present in the spaces where the future of an industry that is part of our identity and our economy is being shaped.”
“Joining this project is also a way of reaffirming L’Alcora’s role as the cradle of ceramics and as a municipality committed to innovation. Tradition and the future are not opposing concepts, but complementary ones, and this congress is a clear example of that. Moreover, we would like to acknowledge the drive of the Castellón Chamber of Commerce, which once again demonstrates its ability to generate opportunities and lead strategic initiatives for the sector as a whole,” he concluded.
Addressing the challenges of the sector
The programme of this inaugural edition of IGNITE has been designed to deliver tangible answers to the current needs of the industry, structured around five key thematic areas of major relevance. The congress will focus particularly on real and competitive decarbonization of the sector, examining energy alternatives that guarantee the sustainability without compromising economic viability, and will delve deeper into the" comprehensive industrial digitalisation, exploring the potential of artificial intelligence and digital twins to optimise production processes.
In addition, the congress will address the development of advanced ceramic materials and its new applications in contemporary architecture, as well as sustainability and industrial circularity in the efficient management of resources. Finally, a section will be devoted to the analysis of industrial geopolitics, which is essential for understanding how international markets and current regulations influence the growth of the Castellón ceramics cluster, bringing together leading experts in materials science, engineering and sustainability.
IGNITE has thus established itself as the new catalyst for ideas in the sector, and also enjoys the vital support of sponsors of the calibre of Porcelanosa and PortCastelló.
